The stock pipes on my 01 400ex turned a goldish color, it has about 10 hrs on it. Is this normal?

I think so.. somebody posted the same thing over in the yamaha forum, worth checking out. I have heard that wd40 will stop it from changing color, whether it works or not, havent got a clue..

yes its normal..
my white brothers works head pipe turns pink when it gets warmed up

Yes, this is normal. If it starts to turn a blueish, it is running to hot.
