400ex, i think. scramblers arent supposed to be fast, they are trail machines. the ex atleast was made to compete on a motocross track

Isn't there a 400 2-stroke scrambler and a 500 HO (4-stroke high output) scrambler? From what I've gathered, the 400ex would win in most conditions but a Scrambler would beat it in mud, snow, etc. The Scrambler is a 4X4.

If both machines were stock.

I've ridden both the 400cc 2-stroke and the 500cc 4-stroke Scrambler and NEITHER ONE will beat a 400ex anywhere.

My buddy had the 400 2-stroke. I never thought it was all that fast, and it certainly would fall behind quickly on a trail with curves. It was heavy (top heavy), clumsy, and the ride was rough!
