The first 2 threadds are smashed together...

any ideas?

I thought about taking the top part off and screwing the spark plug in upsidedown... Am i able to do this? willl the gap come out too? or is it in the whole head..

How much is a new head?

Are there any methods that can fix this, or do you think a shop could help me out?

Bud, now that you need a new complete head, send it off to TC or someplace to have some engine work while you have to do some major mods in first place.

The same thing happened to me last summer. My spark plug stripped. It actually blew the plug out of the hole, not good! So I brought it down to my dealer (the head) and he helicoiled it. While you engine is apart, you should do some mods to it. Its a perfect oppurtunity. Such as porting, higher compression piston, cam, etc... After the helicoil, its like brand new.

If the threads are merely smashed at the outside there is an easy fix. If you are not a mechanically inclined person you will have to find someone who can measure thread pitch. If you can get your thread measured (this will be the same on all 400's so you may be able to find it at the dealer) you can buy yourself a tap of the correct size and fix the threads with the tap. If the threads are smashed so bad that you cannot get the correct alignment then you will need to pull the head and tap from the inside out.

NOTE: This is only a fix if the threads are smashed. This fix will not work for threads that are ripped or torn out. You must also get the correct tap size. If you tap the hole the wrong size you will defenitely require a new head. So tap that thing the right size if possible and screw that plug back in.
