My guess would prob be that there is something in your brakes or somewhere in your drivetrain that everytime you turn it starts to grind so take a close look and make sure nothing is in your wheels or brakes first then start to look at the more major things.

did you take it apart and check because there may be rocks or sticks stuck in there?

I know on cars if a CV shaft is bad they will make noise when turning the wheel while its moving. Haven't been around quads long enough to know if the same holds true for them but it is something to check on.

Is it possible it may-be coming from the front diff. , check and make sure c.v's are seated properly at both end's. just had a simular problem with a noise, turned out--had a bad C-clip on the 1-c.v shaft. Mine made a noise for a while, had a hard time finding it for awhile---finally jacked bike completely off the ground and located it that way! good luck---buy a repair manual--great book to have and well worth the money !!
