How to take care of an ATV???

Change the oil after every five tanks of gas and clean the air filter after every ten. The Recon does not have a field-replaceable oil filter, only an internal filter screen that should be replaced only during engine breakdown. Wash or spray it down after each ride and then park it where it can dry. Spray all the external moving parts and cable with Prestone Silicone Spray to help lubricate them and remove excess moisture. This spray also works great in protecting rubber surfaces like shaft boots.
Check the hub nuts on the rear wheels at least once a year so that they do not become loose on the axles. Honda quads seem to have one of the worse reputations for this, probably becuase Honda many owners don't think a Honda needs much preventive maintenance.
And if you're serious about PM, remove the wheels once a year to clean and grease the front hubs and bearings. The worst front hub assembly I have ever seen was on a Honda that the owner never thought to clean and lubricate. It is also a good idea to periodically remove the rear wheels and grease the axles before replacing the hubs. This is best done with an impact wrench to ensure the nuts do not work loose. I also prefer to use marine grade grease when lubricating the wheels and axles.

Oh, my dad's belief's are that a quad only needs an oil change once a year, even though it's ridden every day. Heck it's never even had a valve adjustment, and boy do they tap away!! But hey, you don't need to maintain them do you??? In fact his car is out of brake fluid, and he still drives it even though it barely stops, and the pedal brake pedal goes to the floor and barely stops. "nothing's wrong with it" Just remember do exactly the opposite that my dad does and you should be just fine!!!
