My best friend and riding partner bought a 2005 450r last spring, He kept it all stock by that winter the motor got tired So we got a 480 15:1 piston kibble white springs, titanuim valves, dyna rev box, had the head ported, stage 2 hotcam, removed the airbox and installed a Pulsecharger full system. It ran great, good power, then after break in we took it to the dunes where 5th gear went (shift fork), then later on that day the crank bearings went on it. After replacing the shift fork and buying a whole new crank assembly it ran good again. Well somehow a little while after that the base gasket leaked water into the oil and cylinder and it cracked the 480 cylinder and fryed the piston. We ordered a new cylinder and went with a stock bore 14:1. Well, sometimes we get kind of happy when ordering parts and along with those parts came a NX wet nitrous kit. after breaking in the new top end we got the nitrous spraying and we took it up to the dunes again. It was a runner, we were only running a 10 shot. Well the by the end of the first day we blew a head gasket, replace it that night and was running again the next day. He was racing it all day, when through 2 16oz bottles of spray, we installed the 3rd and he was racing in, held the throttle wide open in 4th for a few seconds then PING! It just locked up. Got off and looked, the fuccking rod was sticking out of the case! So now we bassically are gonna leave it alone till this winter, were just going to buy a new motor. Hes talking about going with a stroker and still using the stray or going with a stock low compression motor with a turbo. I think he should just be happy with stock because he's had so many problems but time will tell. I think he should sell that peice because it is a bad luck 4wheeler if you ask me. I mean on the way to the dunes the thing rolled off the trailer when getting on the express-way and scrapped upside down on the pavement! Did I forget to mention he just installed brand new oem black plastic for that trip? lol! yeah Its all scrapped up. Somebody please top this story so I won't feel so bad.

I have (2) 2005 Honda 450r and I have not have a real problem.... Other than the fact the black plastics dont hold up well to abuse but who cares they are fast and reliable... I have 50hrs or so on mine do the routine service and they keep running strong.... Good on dunes , in the desert, and in the forest.... Cant Beat Honda Reliability
