Oil overfill Help!!!!!
#11
no thump cranking, no leaks, just a little thip thip around the oil filter cover. I pulled the cover, checked the filter. I am draining it tonight and starting over. you said pull the spark plug and crank it?

I drained the oil and replaced the filter. Took the advice of Dufuss, pulled the spark plug wire and cranked it afterwords. Still had the noise. Took it for a 10 minute ride and no more thumping by the oil filter. Breathing a little easier tonight. I think everything is o.k. I have 3 months left on warranty. The parts guys admitted to giving me the wrong info, gave me 5 more qts of oil, new filter and a plug and said if noise is there they would take care of any repair. Will keep my ear to the motor and pray everything is o.k. Thank you all for your advice, what a great forum

dave, i highly suggest extended warrantys on these things. you may never need it but these things and the labor to fix them cost too much nowadays if something goes wrong. if you get the extension while you are still covered under the given 3 or 6 month term, you are ok but after that you cant get it. call your dealer or honda. i bought mine straight from honda over the phone.
of course you cant abuse them or anything. do you have a manual? get one and follow it that way they can never say to you 'didnt follow the manual.'

I went out this morning and started it. I hear the noise again but it goes away after 5 minutes of running it. I never noticed this noise before, but wasnt looking for it. I am bringing it in to have it checked out anyway. Still under warranty and they are going to do what ever it takes to remedy the problem, they admitted screwing up on the oil amount so It cant hurt to have them check it over.

wow-- thats great they admitted to telling you the wrong capacity. it sounds like you have a good dealer. I would say get the extended warranty because the warranty is only as good as the dealer.-- u have a good dealer

this wasnt even the the dealership I bought it from, went to this place to get oil and filter. The parts guy says he looked up Rubicon instead of Foreman like I told him. They are going to check things out, still have a odd noise I never heard before so they are willing to do whatever it takes to make me happy. It is a Honda Dealership, still under warranty so it cant hurt I guess to have them do a once over. He even said he would put my machine next to a new one so we can compare the engines running to make sure. Will keep you posted on what happens next. Bringing it to them later next week.
