Honda vs. Yamaha vs. Polaris

Honda is known for stone cold reliablity. They are lacking in standard equipment compared to other brands. But I've honestly never felt I've needed a locker or low gear. And before everybody starts bashing saying I must not ride it. I've ridden Telico. If you've never heard of it look it up. Its the most extreme riding place on the east coast. Lockers just bump the front brakes and power transfers. Low gear? Thats what esp is for. If first gear will wheelie its low enough. Also NO BELTS. I use them to hold up my pants.
I love my Rincon. Its not the fastest on the open road but will more than keep up on the uneven trails. As far as MSRP? Who actually pays that? Southern Honda powersports lists an 06 Rincon for $6700. I'm not going to knock anybodys quad, but you asked in a Honda forum so, My personal opinion (you know about opinions) Honda all the way. You won't regret it.

I bought a honda from seeing what we did to the little 300 foutrax we had at my last job. We beat the crap out of it and did oil changes and tires, that was it. Went wheelin' one time with some buddies from work, had 2 foreman 450 es's, one 400ex and a suzuki king quad (500?, i forget...) anyways, sunk the 400ex, one foreman, and the suzuki all at the same time in the Mississippi river, all 3 engines locked up with water. The remaining foreman pulled us out to a sandbar, got the waterlogged foreman running again, pulled the 400ex to shore and push-started that with the good foreman, got that running.
The suzuki didnt make it. We couldnt get the water out of the airbox, it's just a bad design. We had to load them up on the trailer and load them up and go home. the foreman and the 400ex went on to live happy lives.
another thing, i hate automatics. Hydrostatic is too costly to repair, and belt drive is cheap to me. Sure the belt drive is reliable, but after having my gf's explorer over the racks in water, I would be afraid to drive it. The belt started slipping halfway through the 100ft water puddle my rancher went through without a problem.
I didnt choose to buy a honda based on their popularity of their "reliability", I chose to buy one from my own experience.

If you like to play in the mud the Polaris is a beast. If you want reliability Honda is it. The grizz is good also but I like the ride of my Rincon over the grizz and I can stay right beside the grizz. My Polaris has tons of power for mudding and the weight helps in the mud but it is not as reliable as my Rinny.
