Default 400ex vs raptor 660

Has anyone put there 400 ex against the raptor 660? If so what were the result? Im not the original owner of the 400 so I dont know if any upgrades have been done to the engine, but they both appear to be about the same.

If both machines are modded the same or stock vs. stock I'm gonna put my money on the 660??? Seems like it's built more for speed vs. the 400ex's awesome trailability.

The 400ex is an awesome bike, but it just simply doesn't have the power of a Rappy. My old 440ex was a runner, and it would barely beat a stock Rappy just to give you an idea.

I guess I didnt give a whole lot of detail in my topic, but what I was getting at was that the 660 has a very hard time pulling off from my 400ex, and I keep over hearing that the '04 400ex is a "great quad, but is sooo slow!". I just didnt know if this is typical for the 660, but I can tell you my 400ex that appears to be stock doesnt get caught in the dust of a '04 660. Any one else who has ran these two together let me know how it turned out.

piped/jetted/filtered 400ex can outrun a stock raptor for a 100ft or so. then the raptor pulls away pretty hard

I think the EX is better in tight situations (until you need reverse) and the 660 is better for open areas. Honestly, I wanted a 660 until I rode one. Mine's piped, it was stock so it may not have been a fair comparison. But the power difference wasn't nearly what I expected. It sits quite a bit higher too and doesn't feel as balanced when doing wheelies. And outta of the 3 people I've ridden with that had stock raptors, the EX's always fared better on the trails. Could be riders, I'm not saying different, just saying it didn't make me want to trade up.

I think if he pipes the Raptor, it would make a big difference. Stock, they aren't all that impressive.

A local cycle shop also told me they were slow out of the crate.
