Default weight limits?

I'm new to both this forum and ATV riding. I have the opportunity to buy a nearly new Honda Recon 250cc. I'm a pretty big guy at 6'3" and 240 pounds. Will the Recon 250 carry my weight? I live in coastal Virginia, so there won't be any climibing. The bike will be used solely for hunting.
Thanks
Thom

I'd say it would hold up fine, but it's kind of wimpy for it's size and weight, plus if your using it for hunting, I'd get something a good bit bigger with 4wd. I't won't be as manuerverable, but those 4wd quads will go through about anything. They are pretty quite too, so it won't scare everything away.
oh and welcome to the forums.

I would go one step up to the Rancher 350.

Agreed 250 is a little small for that purpose. I am 6'1' 220lbs my 400 rancher would be a great quad for that purpose, I love the quad I just want a little somthing extra but I am trail riding with spoties all the time too.

Hey, to each they're own, but if your asking, then I'm inclined to tell my opinion...Get a bigger bike dude! You don't need a huge bike, but I would deffinetley suggest something bigger than a 250, albeit a great bike, you will find out very quickly that you should have gotten a bigger bike. Also, don't think you will just use it for one primary purpose. Quads are multi-taskers, and just plain fun to ride, so always plan on using it for more than just work. I am a big guy too, 6'4", 325lbs, and I ride the two biggest 2stroke bikes around, a cr500 and quadzilla, and like I said, you don't need a huge bike, just one bigger than what your talking about, I would suggest at leaste a 400 or bigger. Remember, thats just my opinion, take it or leave it, but hopefully it helps. -Take care and good luck. -Tom.

People don't hafta dog on the 250.....I have one and it does great. You can buy a silencer for the Recon for hunting and you literally can't hear the muffler at all it just hangs off the back and goes into the pipe. I am 6' 205lbs and my 250 pulls me around just fine. I have even pushed and pulled our 3,000-3,500lb race car in our garage up a hill. If it can push and pull that it will be able to pull a deer our of the woods and you should maneuver fine as long as your not going through mud thats 2' deep were you need a 4x4. I have taken mine though about 2' deep as long as you get a run and its not much deeper you will do fine.

The Recon is a fine little quad. It will pull you fine if your only going hunting. But its your choice. You are going to be riding it. So go ride it before you buy it and see what you think. They are small. But that might be alright for your use. If you ever go trail riding at your size you will probably want something bigger.

He isn't much bigger than me and I go trail riding and making own trails. I have pulled a quad out of the woods up a hill without a problem. I have also put a quad on my back rack because its front tire got messed up and pulled it up and down hills without a problem and through mud. It may sound small 250, but she can do alot.

Oh don't get me wrong. I have nothing against the Recon's power. I was just talking about the overall size of the Recon. I'm around 6' and 220lbs. and I just thought it was really small. I haven't ridden one much, just around a field. I had alot of fun on it doing wheelies and such. But it just seems after a while it would get kinda cramped. Maybe its just I'm used to a much larger machine.
Either way go ride it and you decide. Your the only one who can make that choice/
