I'm workin on an 05 450R that has an LRD s/o with an FMF jet kit. Before these items were installed the bike would cutout or die when the throttle was opened all the way. It would rev fine until WOT. This is not good when racing up the dunes. There is a 175 jet in there now from the FMF je kit which uses DJ jets I believe and the FMF needle on the third clip. It acts like it is hitting a rev limiter on the top end, but its not revving that high. If you hold the throttle open it will miss like its hitting the limiter or running out of fuel. Any ideas on what to check? Thanks for your help.

Sounds like you might have too large a jet in it for the modifications you're running. Mine has a Big Gun full system with high flow K&N air filter and no airbox and I'm running a 175 main jet. If all you have is a slip on and it's got a 175 main you might be running too rich. Drop your main jet to a 155 and see how it acts. Keep going up a jet size until it starts cutting out again like you described before and then drop one jet size. That should put you right about where you need to be. Or you could keep your jet size and open up your airbox. Try running your bike without the airbox lid for a bit and see if the throttle response gets better.

I'll give that a shot. I also forgot to mention that it has a K&N in it, but the lid is still on. I will take that off and see what happens. When I pulled the old plug it was the blackest plug I have ever seen. So yeah, I was thinkin a bit on the rich side too. Thanks for your help, any other suggestions greatly apprecieated.
