boost 450r power
#11
I would get an FMF Exhaust with power bomb header, K&N Filter, jet it, remove the lid completely, and install the HRC Cam.... that alone was amazing... With the added power I got from the cam I added a tooth to the front and didnt really comp my low end especially with the power addition provided by the cam... also adding a tooth increases top speed quite a bit at least it seems like it compared to the stock 450r I have as well...
If you are really looking to get crazy go 13:1 compression add race fuel and you will be F@$#in fast...
just my opinion the only thing you could interchange is the exhaust, i am partial to FMF so whatever

I also have a 2005 trx 450r and I can't say enough good things about the HRC Kit. I added the HRC Kit (about $200), a UNI Air Filter($30) and an Outerwears prefilter ($15) and my bike is a rocket. It performs so well that I don't have a need to buy an expensive exhaust and the best part is that it is 100% reliable. And as a bonus, I didn't have to spend much money to leave my riding buddies in the dust.

The HRC kit is w/o a doubt the best bang for the buck!!
Everything you need is included along with the recomended settings
You can go faster other ways, but I don;t think anything comes close to the value/performance vs cost ration to an HRC kit.
If you are handy then maybe you can buy different performance pieces and trial and error how they work together (which has a good chance of producing more power than the HRC kit, but probably a much higher cost and more time effort by you to dial it in)
I have the HRC kit on my 06 and it was really impressive.....I did eventually change the exhaust over to a CT racing full system....
HRC exhaust hit a lot harder on the bottom end, but the CT pipe lets it rev higher and smoother.....
If you can ID the type of riding you will be doing it would help with gearing/tire recomedations too.....
If gear properly and then change tires you will need to regear again....
Let me know if you have any questions

I do a little bit of every riding, from some tight trails (although I have stayed away from them since i got this thing) to open backroads. I find myself mostly riding back and forth from my friends house on these backroads, but I still hit the trails on the way, or just ride around my house and neighborhood. I dont mind it being geared high because I rarely like to go any slower than 1st will handle unless im in a tight trail where I have to.
