250R Frame with a CR250 motor
#1
Buddy of mine has a CR250 but really wants a quad so we where thinkin about getting a 250R frame and placing the motor into it.
It's a 91 CR250 so it's not worth enough to sell and purchase a ATV so we're trying to work with what we have.
So here is what i've got.
91 CR250 for the power plant
I'm thinking about a late 80's TRX250R frame.
How hard of a job is it to get this motor into this frame? Or is there another frame that works better for the Dirt Bike motor into a quad?
Thanks for all the help guys.

i don't think i would do that. the gear ratios in the CR are way differant then the quad built 250. mut yes i might even bold tight in. not sure.. and it will run if you do things right.. but the gearing is what would stop me.....
just my thoughts.

get a hold of the honda dealer in the back of atv action ahh ,service honda! they sell a kit with a new 250cr engine in it! it is a custom 400ex frame they make the mounts the works its faster than any 450 in stock form cause it weighs 299 to 330 pounds depending on suspention. do it ! they say with out there special motor mounts you will not be able to ride it due to the horrible engine vibration!!!the gearing can be setup easy.service honda!!!

Thanks guys.
Sounds like more work then it's worth when you can find a 250R on ebay for 1500 bucks.
I agree the gearing would be off but a sprocket change could fix that.
Vibration now that you've said that i've heard of that being a problem before. Hmmmm

Contacting service Honda is great advice.
Yes, dirtbike engines will create more vibration due to the fact that dirt bike engines do not have counter balancers like quad engines. Motor mounts with some type of vibration isolators is the way to go, and I would loc-tite all the fender bolts to be safe.
