honda 440ex
Everybody that has an 06-07 loves them, I was on a budget and looking for a used quad and I couldn't pass up a new 05.
I love the '05 as well. When comparing a 400EX to a 450R, compare the entire package. After riding the 450R on a nice long, technical trail, many things become apparent.
1. The tank is way more ergonomic on the 450
2. The suspension gives way more feed back...kind of like comparing a Corvette to a Cadillac (only the Caddy is not so smooth, just sluggish)
3. The engine is more responsive and at mid 30's HP, is more reliable than the EX would be similarly equipped
4. The brakes are off the hook
Can the 400EX be made to run with the 450's? Maybe with enough money, but how long will it hold together. My R will remain mostly stock for mostly 2 reasons: I like to ride more than wrench and after riding the 450R through the trails, it truely is fast enough to kill you in any gear (I love it)
Honestly, I wish Honda would build a 650cc ATV in which the engine is a little less stressed but just as responsive as the 450R's. If they could only keep the weight down too...
