Very good idea to ditch the K&N! Even a tiny bit of dirt will ruin the valves on this engine.
What year do you have??? The 04/05's are different from the 06/07's. Some folks think that the stock 06/07's are improved enough that the stock Honda setup is just fine. Mine is an 04, so I won't offer an opinion on that one........
The weak point of stock Honda filters is that highly restrictive wire insert that they use to keep the filter from collapsing. It is actually a spark arrestor, to prevent a fire if it happened to backfire into the carb (designed by Honda's lawyers, no doubt).
If your Twin Air is meant to fit over the stock cage, ditch the filter and consider it to be a little money wasted to learn a lesson.......... I
I originally went with the stock UNI filter, which comes with its own cage. However, the cage has a weak plastic collar that will eventually collapse under the pressure of the band that holds things in place. This will make it difficult to keep the filter on, and it may pop off if you are not carefull. I found myself having to replace the cages so often, that it just wasn't worth the expense compared to the ProDesign unit (which I talk about below). This is a universal problem with UNI, and something they really need to address!
The absolutely best solution is to pay the money for a ProDesign ProFlow adapter and their own custom UNI filter. The aluminum collar will insure that you will never have a problem with your filter coming off in the middle of a ride or some disaster like that. It has its own cage, and the whole system is slick and foolproof. http://www.prodesignracing.com/main.htm

i called twin air, they have their office in PA. The tech there said that the metal inner filter is a backfire screen, and the twin air filter is strong enough that it will not collapse without it. He also said that the screen is highly restrictive. They had great customer service.
