400ex Key switch Problem
#1
Hello Guys, It has been a little while since I have posted something but i guess that is the reason why you buy a Honda. I had a burnout moment and lost my key. I couldn't find my spare either. I tried to take the switch apart to see if i could get it started without really breaking it. I pulled the bottom part off that has the wire connections and put it back together. Last night i found my spare but the bike won't start, I can't even get the headlights to turn on. Does anybody have any idea what i did wrong?

I double checked the wires and they are connected fine. I didn't strip any or cut them. I thought maybe I wasn't lining the bottom part up correctly, there are three openings on the top piece that three ridges on the bottom piece lock in to. I am just really stumped. thanks for your input

yea I just looked at the microphiche on the 400 ex and I see how it plugs in I was thinking it was single wires not a harness...What I would do is see how much the battery is putting out and make sure you have enough power to get to the quad...make sure you are in nuetral...check to see if the key is the right one whihc I am sure it is...if you have a tether switch or killswitch make sure it is working correctly and if the key is in and the quad is in nuetral try and pop start the quad and see if you can get it running. Let me know if any of this works and if not i will suggest more.

Unfortunatley, my neutral switch that connects to the bottom of the engine got broken off by a stick so I have to hold the clutch in. I have a trickle chrger on the battery when it is not in use, and the battery is only two months old so I am not worried about power. Is there a way you can send me that micro fiche so i can see if i have it lined up right or if there is something missing?
