I use the stock Honda oil filter.

I get my Maxima Extra ester synthetic oil from http://www.onoffroad.com/Merchant2/m...IMA-LUBRICANTS . I run Extra in both the engine and trans sides.

Chaparral and Rocky Mountain also carry Extra, but only in the 15W50 weight.

I use the K&N oil filters in my CRF450 as well, they seem to work just fine.

I also add a little extra oil on the tranny side.

either the stock filters will do, K&N, or the reusable metal filters but I don't know how well they work I have just used stock so far

I don't really trust the reusable wire mesh filters. If you look at the mesh, it doesn't seem to be very fine........I can see the holes in the mesh with my naked eye.

A standard automobile oil filter will seive out particles down to ~40 um, and the premium ones will do down to 10 um. Anybody know what a stock Honda filter will do????

Amsoil and Maxima are probably the best and most recommended, changing the oil every 2-20 hours. I'm going to use Rotella synthetic 5W-40 in the engine and non synthetic 15W-40 in the trans.

If any machine can take advantage of a synthetic, it is a screaming 450!
