300ex vs. mojave vs. warrior

forgrt the mojave. If you ride trails a lot go with the 300ex. Mostly fire roads, go with the yamaha. Both, well, probably the 300ex unless you are a big person. the 300ex will respond quite well to hop-ups if you want to make it faster than the yamaha. a stock warrior will beat a stock 300ex.
300ex is better on jumps and turning. If it was me, I would spend my money on a 300ex, or a 400ex if I could afford it.

I have owned a Warrior, and currently own a 300EX. I would vote for the 300 because of better suspension. The 300 is medium size, and handles lighter than its weight would predict. The Warrior is a heavier bike, and handles like a big heavy bike. But, if you are big, you would have to go with the Warrior, the 300 would be just to cramped.

I have the same problem. I've narrowed it down to the 300ex and mojave. Both are great trail machines. each have there strong points 300ex-great handling, jumping and electric start. mojave-good handling(300 is alittle better),liquid cooled, and kick start(saves weight). They are pretty much the same speed and both are very reliable.

I ride my friends mohave around all of the time and i think it's a great machine. BUT there is no comparing it to a 300ex.
The 300ex is lighter and more nimble. Handles WAYYYYYY better, and feels more powerful than the mohave.
There is one drawback to both of them....
The 300ex has a really crappy reverse setup. It sucks to even try to get it into reverse. (but it can be fixed with an aftermarket part that cost $30). The mohave has the reverse in a really nice place.
The bad thing about the mohave is that there is no way to tell if it's in neutral or reverse other than to look down and back toward the engine/tranny to see what gear it's in.
On the 300ex you know when it's in reverse and neutral because there are two lights on the handle bars to indicate what gear it's in.
Oh and i forgot to mention. The 300ex has electric start and the mohave has kick start. The kick start is cool because you don't have to worry about batteries but it sucks to try starting it in the cold....so the electric start really comes in handy.
Get the 300ex....Period.

I use to own a 300ex. I rode w/ warriors (00') and mojaves (99'). I had a stock 300ex at first..and the only place they could beat me was in a straight line drag race. The mojave and ex were about even. In the woods it was goodbye warrior, and if the kid on the mojave was any better rider, i'm sure that would have been flying in the woods to. I rode the mojave and if your the right size for the machine, then it will HAUL in the woods. Same goes for the EX. The warrior is a good machine, but after riding the mojave and 300ex it seems to be tippy and sit alittle to high, and heavy. Its a size thing. If your bigger go for the warrior. Stock vs. stock i'd say go w/ the 300ex. After riding my 300ex stock for awhile i put some money into it (piston, porting, valve job, xct holeshots all around, gaskets, clutch kit....) and it absolutly rocks out. THat "little" 282cc engin has more potential then you think it does! Just look at CSTARKS 330ex..wow, when that was just a 300ex it was very very fast. I could pull the warrior and mojave after the mods..and the torque differnce is INCREDABLE. Pulls twice as hard as stocker. In the woods w/ that extra power adn torqe, there is NO machine faster then the 300ex w/ a few mods. Its small, enough suspension for the woods, and very quick. I traded my 300ex in (because i got to big for it) and bought a ds650 and i'm not scared to admit that sometimes i miss my 300ex. In the woods it cant be touched. JUST UNSTOPABLE! Yes i'v ridden and played on 400ex's and no i dont think they can even compare to a moded 300ex in the woods. The Warrior is always going to sit kinda high, and be heavy. The mojave i'v never seen modified but i bet you coudl get some ponies out of that motor to.

I personaly own a mojave!!!
i have talked to paul at big gun about the mods he made to his mojave and he ripped out the air box and found a k&n that fit the demetion of the carp and rejet and the big gun exhaust witch they just revamped and it will haull but he says...
what most people don;t realize about the mojave is it is a Dual Overhead Cam compared to a single.. it has more potential with just bolt on mods...
your talking with exhaust system intake and jetting about a 8 hourse power gain to the rear tires.. this is a quote form the big gun page !!!!!
