I think I would be showing that to the dealer. It should not have broken. That would be what I would blame for the accident. Who knows the dealer might fix it under warranty.

Good suggestion.

I always check them first, and then order from them what the local stealer wont match them on or just doesnt have etc.

Damn that suks, but good to hear he is ok even if he is gonna be hurting for a little.

How big was that rut? It had to be a pretty bad one (over 4ft deep right?) to cause this unless there was a mechanical problem of some kind.

I would deff try to push it through warranty or as some kind of defect as it cant hurt to try it, but dont be suprized if you get a hard time as most dealer people are not up enough to really figure what happened, and also cant figure that its in their favor to push it through.

Good luck either way, and tell your bro he was lucky even though he may not believe this too much when he breathes or moves.

Default HONDA Crash!

A friend of mine let his inlaws borrow his 04 rancher 400 and his 16 year old cousin inlaw took off on it with a friend on back, being a brand new rider she got overconfident and hit a tree at an estimated 50 mph. Girls were very lucky and came out witrh a few scrapes and bruises, rancher on the other hand had 3500 dollars worth of damage, front rack, plastic , a-arm bolt like you decribed wich bent the frame. I would take it to Honda and have them estimate it for you, and in the future you may want to look into full coverage insurance I've heard it can be had for the same amount as a street bike, I plan on putting it on my new Rubicon. Anyway hope you get it fixed for as little as possible.

Even if that tree never grew over 2" tall that was a receipe for disaster.

Just look at these words as things to avoid: BORROW, Friend on back, New Rider.

I dont know about anyone else, but I wont even consider letting just anyone take a drive on my ride. Its not being selfish, but trying to avoid a problem just like were seeing here.

Even those who are experienced enough that they should have half a clue get quick course on how not to be "stupid" and there is a discussion on how to pay for any damages.

Not all accidents can be avoided, but many of them didnt need to happen either.
