i was trying to put a new rope in my pull start last night, but my buddy flipped the caseing upside down and the metal strip spring thing came out......tried for hours with my hands and a screwdriver....but whenever i get close...it just flops around and smacks me in the face.[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-mad.gif[/img] any tips or tricks u veterans now about....please i'm tire of pop starting!! its a 86 atc 200s, any help or ideas are greatly appreciated!!!

i find it hard to believe no one knows a better way to get that spring in there then waiting a month for the bike shop to fix it......or where i could ever find another one.

 

I'm sorry but I can't offer you any advice. I did replace the rope on an 87 TRX 125 once and it was a difficult job at best.

Those springs are very dangerous when they come "unwound" so for God's sakes, be careful.

Hopefully someone that's done this recently will help you out.
