no one runs 20:1
32:1 is the norm and 40:1 is also very common and is fine too.
the term lean is not realy the corect term . forget about the oil for a second, and think of it as adding more gas not putting less oil.
you will actualy be richer. lean and rich are ways to describe you fuel to air ratio. not the oil.
at 32:1 more fuel will be intering the engine through the carburetor jets than 20:1 so your fuel air mixture will be richer.
so you maybe able to drop a jet size when mixing at 32:1 and make some good power.
always look at the plug of corse but dont be suprised if it could use a smaller jet. jeting corctly is the only way to get all the power out of a motor.it may run fine after changing the oil mixture but it could be great with a jet change.
modern oil is better than the old stuff and the bike makers over jet them and want you to dump way to much oil in them also ,so the engine has a better shot at surviving any idiots abuse.
so first go to 32:1 oil mix then run it hard and check the plug. if its wet or rich looking drop a jet ,and check. keep droping until you make the most horse power "the bike pulls the hardest" then go up a jet size ,run it and check the plug.

Yea I have been running amsoil 20:1 in there but I was down at the honda dealer yesterday and that guy recomended Honda's HP2 at 32:1 (1 pint to 4 gallons og gas) and I trust Honda's oil a little more seeing that they did make the machine. Anyways I thonk I'm gonna switch over to the HP2 in Spring.
