Solutions to aftermarket pipe problem
#1
I've owned two supertrapp pipes, one on my old mojave (sold) and one on my 400ex. Both silencers had only one bolt hole used to fasten it to the 4-wheeler, whereas the stock silencers were fastened by two bolts.
The rear bolt hole where the aftermarket silencers attach seem to have a shock mechanism (I assume so that there's a small amount of movement w/ factory silencer). Without the front silencer bolt, however, the aftermarket silencer movement is pretty bad.
I haven't done anything to seal the header/silencer joint, and I assume this will help.
Right now I just have the rear bolt in and some fencing wire wrapped around the frame and pipe where the factory front bolt is supposed to go - but that's just a temporary solution until I can figure out what to do!
What have you guys done to fix this?
thanks, ogre

No takers?
Everyone just lets the pipe bounce around?
Seriously, I did flush mount the little rivet where the silencer meets the header, but that seemed to loosen up.
Is the best way to stop it from moving around to seal the joint with high temp silicon?
