I saw one place, Four-Stroke Tech, that might make a big bore or stroker for the little Honda engine in the Recon and 250EX. Does anyone know of any kits?

Edit: I know the 250X was stroked and had an electric start added, to make it into the 300EX, and that it has a 4 valve head. What I meant to ask is are the cylinder and piston for the 250X the same as what is used in the Recon and 250EX. Hope I didn't make this more confusing.

 

The 250X and 250EX are are totally different.

I put one in our 250EX and proted the head. Along with a pipe, K&N air filter and jetting, it runs pretty good.

Thanks! Pretty cool site, they even have parts for the Kymcos! I wonder if Kymco is going to make the step up to the level of the Japanese and American quad makers and stay there.

What is the difference between the carbs? How reliable was the engine after the bigger piston was put in?

 

I can't answer the carb question because I don't have a recon.

We have been running it hard for two dune seasons now.
