2wd Rancher Tire help?
It is time to get new tires on my 06 2wd rancher and I am needing some help. I would rather keep the stock rims but I might end up getting some ITP steel wheels. I would like to go up to 26" but I don't want to lose hardly any power, none preferably. But looking on rockymountainatv.com, It seems that almost all the tires for a rancher on the front are just 25" or lower. Which the stock are 24" in front and 25" in rear, so would going 26" in rear and 25" in front be ok or should I try to find all 26" or 25". The only reason I'm wanting 26" is for the extra ground clearance and the deeper tread seeing as all the 25"s tread is under an inch. So any suggestions on if I should stick with all 25" or would it be ok to go to 26" or a mix between both. Thanks

get 26 inch gators or mud bugs for stock rims. if you change your rims i would say outlaws for sure. i too have a two wheel drive(with a couple goodies) it turns 26s fine, you will loose abou 5-6 mph off your topp end if that matters. as soon as i get a lift kit im going to 27s!!! cant wait. hell if i cant drive across it ill betcha i can float!lol.

I have come around to the point of view that is doesn't make any sense to buy a nice nimble great handling little trail machine and saddle it with huge tires that it was never meant to have! If you genuinely need huge tires for clearance or whatever, it's time to step up to a larger machine that can handle them,

imo, i dont like mud lights! the name is misleading, they should be called trail-lights. they are soft rubber, which if you ride alot of black top they will wear bad. they are a descent tire. the ride good on the trails, but nothing special in the mud. if weight is a big factor, or top end i say go for it, but if not i think you would be happier with a bug or gator. maybe even a swamp-light? and in reply to rr, i do need the ground clearance, and i have enough motor to turn 27s ,so why not? i would love to own a bigger machine its just not in the cards right now!!
