Default 400ex Carb

Does anyone know which year they switched from the 35.5mm to the 38mm pumper? I'm pretty sure it was the 2005 one but I'm not sure. Also does anyone know where to find a newer style one? Or and aftermarket one thats better then the stock one? Thanks for any help....oh and my price limit is like $250

I just bought a 05 450r carb off of ebay for a 125 bucks, I am going to try to see how it works on mine, if I like it I will be selling my stocker off of my 04 ex, for the same price. JOhn

I just bought an 04 carb for $92 so I guess I'm just going to run that...the one on my EX is junk. Oh and how close should a Z400 and a 400EX be with me on the EX being 50lbs lighter then the Z400...because we raced them and the Z would win by a long shot but I'm hoping thats because the stock carb was crap on mine and wasn't working right the whole time. The Z has a FMF silencer and I have K&N for mods and were both as good of riders...if anything I'd be the quicker driver.

Just wondering, how did you get 50 pounds off of a 400ex? From the factory the z and ex are pretty close, until 05. The ex then gained 13 pounds, not 50.
