Default Rincon hard starting

I've got an 06 Rincon that doesn't like starting in cold weather. It was -5F and the quad would just turn over and not start. I would open the throttle just slightly and it would sputter a little, then the FI light would come on and reset itself. Should I be adding any Isopropl alcohol to the gas when its this cold out? I put the quad in the garage and put a heater on it for 10 minutes then it started up after several tries, but I'm not going to have access to a heater when I'm out ice fishing. Any ideas?

Thanks

You might ask the dealer if there is a TSB for a reflash or something. Seems like I've read about this problem in the first fuel injected Rincons before... Unless there is water in the tank, I don't think ispropl fuel dryer would help, but it might be worth a shot...

Edit: Also the EFI ones need the throttle absolutely closed while starting...

Do you have the right oil. Cold weather. Check your book. I bet it calls for a 5W-30 oil. I use a 5W 50 oil in all three units and have no problem year round.

I am using 0w-30 during the winter months. I will be giving my stealer a call to see if there are any TSB's on hard starting. I remember the quad giving me a hard time starting once in the fall, but it was a one time deal and I didn't think anything of it. I'm wondering if it has anything to do with some bad gas. I fill the quad up with fuel from older gas stations when I'm riding at my cottage. I wonder if those stations might have questionable gas? I'll post what I get out of my dealer.

Gas goes stale quicker in smaller volumes when exposed to air, and if it's gotten marginal I think it might not fire off in the winter.

Dumping the tank out and pouring in some fresh fuel would be easy and cheap, so I would think it would be worth trying.

i just picked up a brand new 06 rincon today. it fired up fine at the dealership. after towing it home some 100 miles it wouldnt start. (outside temp 7 degrees) i put it in the heated garage for about an hour and it started right up. i know honda claims the rincons efi has a sensor that can tell what the temp is and adjusts idle accordingly from -13 to 104 degrees. i will be calling the dealer also to find out what the problem is with the cold weather starting and let you know what i hear. i also do alot of ice fishing and need a dependable cold weather machine. pretty disappointed.
