bore 80 over

Default bore 80 over

Hey i have a 300 ex and wanna squeeze some more outta it. i am thinkin about boreing it out 80 over. i got a piston kit from wiesco lined up.. i was just wondering if anyone has this or rode one with it done.. does it give a little more juice? i want to run a kinda radical cam but cant find one that floats my boat.. any help would be awsome.. thanks

Put that bore money and the price you'll get for your 300 and buy a bigger bike. Boring it out is not going to give you a reasonable power gain for the money. You can find 400 ex's out there for a dime a dozen. I'm not a fan of the 400 either as far as power goes but it will be much more than a bore job on your 300. JMO.

boring it out will give you alot more low end! as far as top end you need a longer stroke! try a high compression wiseco piston maybe port and polish. ill guarenty you will notice alot of gain, top and bottom. that is the only way to gain power. there is no replacement for displacement!!!

Besides not being a fan of a 400ex, I agree with Zorro. It won't be worth boring out the 300ex, I didn't even think it was worth it when I bored my old 400ex into a 440.

Boring out will not give any gains.Porting out will give you some more power.May see a gain from boring out if your bike needs rebuilt really bad.The new piston and rings will help.
