I currently own both!I have a highly modified 86 trx250r and a slightly moded 97 300ex.I race my 250r and rebuilt the topend about a year ago.I don't ride the 250r that much due to the amount of money we have in it.I did ride it today and after sitting for about 3 month a kicked it 1 time and it fired right up.I had a new plug in it though.(I stole the old one for my blaster)I rode it around and I guess I had forgot what FAST was like because I had a hard time keeping the front end down on the road!My 300ex is a great trail bike but if you are jumping and riding fast the 250r is the way to go!I have a pic of both of them on my website. And the list of mods.MY 250r does excellent in the woods still with all it mods!

If i were to get the 250R, i need to know would i feel cramped on, or like it's too small. I"m six feet tall right now, and i'm only 15, i weight about 150 pounds. Also what pipes or mods could i do for the cheapest, to tune it for woods riding, and still be able to haul tail in the open?

I am also 15 and am 6'2.I don't feel cramped at all.IT was a relief getting of that tiny blaster on to my roomy r.For woods riding I would get a ram valve, reed, spacer, and a lrd adjustable pipe.I have a fatty gold series and it is more of a mid-top pipe even though it does decently in the woods.I think there is alot better. And some 20/11/9 6 ply razr's on stock rear wheels and 22/8/10 6 ply razr's on Stock front wheels. The stock wheels are very strong due to the rolled edge.I have a freind that has been racing 250r's since they first came out and he said the stock wheels are as stong as douglas .190's with reinforcing rings!I would also get works triple rate front with res's and have the rear shock rebuilt.

Let me tell you.IT IS CHEAPER TO FIND A ALREADY BUILT 250R.THAN BUILD ONE YOURSELF!

I bought mine COMPLETLY stock and have about 5500 in it right now plus the 2500 we bought it for!

But I love it so much.I wash it about every day even if I don't ride it!

if you're worried about being cramped on a 250R, don't even bother with the 300EX..the 250R is larger in almost every aspect.
