I run Maxima Synthetic 75W90 http://www.maximausa.com/products/ge...thgearlube.asp
Whatever you choose, it should be a GL5 "hypoid" gear oil.

ALERT! Now that I read your post again more carefully......NO NO NO!

That HP TRANS OIL is for the TRANSMISSION of the 450R and old 2-stroke 250R. It is NOT intended to go in a differential, and absolutely not intended for "hypoid" gears! (Hypoid gears are patricularly hard on the lubricant, and require high amounts of high pressure additives.) Take it back and get your money refunded, and find the manager and tell him what an idiot the sales person is!!!

I was at the dealers today, and happened to look at the Honda oil shelf. Honda sells an 80W90 Shaft Drive Oil, that is appropriate for your gear case..........

reconranger, i appreciate it verry much, yeah i was realy leary about it, i even asked the guy again after i picked it up and he didnt change his mind. i like the idea about talken to the maneger but i'm gunna hold off, i get a 10% discount on every thing buy there and that same day i got a used honda service manual for 11 bucks, so i'll overlook his tendencie to be an idiot, just return it for the right stuff. thanks thow verry much
