honda odyssey
just wondering if anyone out there has or know someone who has an odyssey with suspension mods. I know, an odyssey with suspension is called a pilot. But the pilot still has an amazingly high resale value, which puts it out of range, financially speaking. My brother, who is a paraplegic, has an odyssey with engine mods that make it a screamer. Problem is, with little to no suspension, it beats the crap out him when going roughly twice as fast as it used to. Even I complain when I try to take advantage of all the power on tap. Long story short, we're looking to perhaps put a swing-arm style suspension(golf cart type) and maybe even adapt a big four wheeler front susp. to it. Honda really did their homework on the pilot, which is why they are still so sought after. But with a little ingenuity, we think we might be able to put something together for him. Just a brother trying to keep another brother out on the trails and playing in the dirt. Family that plays together stays together, if ya know what I mean.

Have you looked for a 1985 Honda FL350 Odyssey? It may be the happy medium you're looking for. It has front and rear independent suspension. You can find decent ones for about $2,000 - $4,000. I believe 1985 was the only year they were made. It was made after the FL250 and before the 400 Pilot.

Thanks for the info guys. My bro has done some research online and found a company called "chalenger independent rear suspension"-(chalenger with one L) that makes a kit for the odyssey. They had a pretty detailed article about their kit, but I have no idea if the company still exists. He also found some pictures of some homemade kits, and as soon as figure out how to post pics, I'll get them up here. Every one is basically a trailing arm set up, similar to a VW I.R.S. They appear to only offer approx. 3-4" of travel, which is better than nothing, but we couldn't get any info as to whether or not it worked up to their expectations.
