ATV_MAN are you useing a heating torch or a cutting torch cutting torch will be best bet flame is more concentrated will heat nut faster without heating up every thing else if that and the pipe on the wrench don,t work may have to find someone thas handy with cutting torch and cut the nut off and get a new one to go back on works good on mineing equipment but i realize quad is more fragile but it should work if not may have to take it to shop

I have a propane heating torch...I know what you mean by the metal cutting torch, the oxy. acetelylene ones.

My dad and I had the nut moving...but then we tried again and it wouldn't move...we probably hit a bad spot in the thread.
If I can get it off any way I'll re-tap it with a tap & die set.

Borrow someones dremmel tool and cut the nut off,as soon as it hits the ground grab the largest hammer in your garage and teach that nut never to stick on you again hehe. The torches or a 4 inch grinder can be hard to control if you dont use them all the time. The dremmel should allow you to cut through the nut without hurting your axle. Hope I helped

88' 250R lots of goodies.

Yeah I could do that...I would cut the nut all the way around the axle then it would come off....If the axle threads get damaged I'll just use a die to re-thread it and then get a new nut.

IT'S OFF!!!!!!WHAT A RELIEF!!!!!

I never needed to cut it off.

WHAT I DID: I Put on lots of lubricant...then heated it up(wow did that lube ever light on fire...lol)...next I got a wrench and had it upside-down and resting on the floor...then had my dad put all his weight on the pipe wrench and it came loose!!
The bearings were in pieces and all torn apart...and in very bad shape...now I gotta order new ones tomorrow...do you have to grease the rear bearings just like the front ones??

Glad you got it, mine are loose and im not looking forward to pulling it apart... I always remove the stock greese with paint thinner and re-pack with good waterproof boat trailer greese how bad did your axle wabble with the bad berrings? mine just has slight play.
