okay give me some help! my 400 won't start in the cold. i've changed the plug still nothing. i almost drained the battery while trying but stopped before i screwed anything up. what next?
|
Re-charge the battery and try to jump start it

Kill switch? (Sorry; been there, done that myself.)
Yeah, hook 'er up to a running automobile's battery--make sure you've plenty of clean, dry fuel passing through your carburetor; use some starting fluid (ether) from an aerosol can. If you've cleaned the spark plug (squirt some starting fluid down the hole), and it won't start after this, you've got a problem. If you've got good fuel, hot spark (and good plug) at the right time, and compression; oughta start! You can drain the carb and tank and add good gas if there's any doubt about the fuel; at least check for spark; and feel the compression. Sometimes, a can of starting fluid works wonders. Diogenes. |
sit it next to a gas heater or something for a 1/2hr. and it should start right up, thats what i did last year and started up right away

Take off the carb and move the clip up one position.Thats what i do for my 230 in the winter.

Why would you lean out your carb in the winter? If you are raising the clip you are leaning it out. |
did ya check ur gas?? i did the same thing and drained my batery , and it was a simple mistake of beingout of gas, put it on reserve and try it again!@

Is your ex stock ? If not, what mods have you done?

okay guys, yes the kil switch is in the run position, yes it has gas in it filled it before trying to start it. tonite i'm going the heater route and maybe try the starting fluid if that doesn't work i guess i'll have to wait for the spring thaw.

Park it some place warm and if you dont have a warm place to park it and it still wont start then your in the same boat as me and it sucks dont it.The heater should work however.
