I would also go with the 420. The local dealer here has two 420 ES machines 4x4 and a price of 4800 dollars on them. No manual tranny 420s but told me they would get me one from another dealer if I paid a deposit. Seems they can't keep the manual 420s in stock.

While I love my Rancher....I want a 420....but not an ES model.

420 is the hands down winner

I just bought the Rancher 420 but haven't had a real chance to take it out yet. The 420 definatly has more pick up off the line than my old 350. I rode both of them behind the house and the 420 was a stiffer ride than the 350. Riding the 350 after the 420 was like wearing an old pair of shoes, nice and comfortable.

The real test is tomorrow when we go ride for a couple hours. I'm sure I'll get used to pretty quick.

The 420 suspension is more soft.

I have both. The 2007 is much better. Fuel Injection is nice and smooth and it has a lot more power. I like the 2wd because they are lighter and easier to manage on trails. Do not get an ES. I am having trouble with mine right now.
Only had it since January but I do ride alot.

Well, it was only a five minute ride, so I can't truely compare yet. I'll know better after I take it for a good ride.

I've driven a 2x4 honda 350, im not sure what kind of honda it was, but it has ES and i hated it. it had no ba!!s at ALL! the only reason it could even break traction and power slide was cuz it had bald rear tires.

btw, do you have to let off the gas whe shifting using an ES model? i'm pretty sure you do for the foot shifter kinds

It's best to let off the throtle when shifting either the ES or manual. If you don't it's like popping the clutch in every gear, and how long so you think your clutch is going to hold up doing that?????

Pulled the trigger! Thanks to all for the great input. I decided to get one of each. They made me an offer I could not refuse!
I think I got a nice OTD end of the month deal

420FM $4,700 (4WD)
350TM $3,373 (2WD)

One last newbie question.... I have a small trailer for our lawnmower that is great working around property. Is there a universal hitch I can buy to hook up this trailer. I looked on line and did not find a OEM aftermarket for Rancher 350 or 420. I did find this
