Cant Decide between a 350 or a new 420

New to the game and have looked at the 2006 350 (priced right at $3522 OTD) or the newer 420TM for $4500 OTD. Both are 2WD to be used for trail riding and lite work.

The 420 has alot more power than the 350.With the FI i think it's a far better machine..
Just depends on the $1000.00 ..I ride my fathers 07 2wd 420 ES FI..It's a nice trail bike..

So it appears the big question is 2wd vs. 4wd
the quote i have for trx420fm is $5034
The 420 is newer and they do not have any rebate deals or specials at the shop I am working with. Is that a fair price? I dont mind them making a few bucks on the deal, but I do not want to pay full list either

Well, that's below MSRP and this is a brand new model that is in demand, so I don't think you can ask for much more. If that price is OTD, that would be unheard of around here......
2wd utility machines are in a weird place. They aren't sport quads but they aren't full on utes either. I had a 2wd Rancher once, and it was actually a very capable excellent handling machine, but I say get the 4wd if for no other reason that it will have way better resale someday.

I would always take 4wd.Better to have it in case you need it.That being said, depends on the type of riding
you do..If its casual trail riding then you might not need it..The price where you live is not bad, compared to
the west coast..

If you are comparing 4x4 models also consider the 420 has a selectable diffrential from the factory, whereas the 350 does not. This option alone is worth at least $500 in my opinion.
The 420 is by far the better all around machine. I paid $1000 more for my 420 than I did for my 350 and would do it a million times over.

i think id go 420 if i were you. i have not rode one but i hear nothing but good about it. i may be gettin a 4wd soon and this one is on my list to consider. weight (and power to weight ratio), balance, handling are a big issue to me - i just hate that most of these 4wds are around 600lbs...
