Default z400 vs. 300ex

Hey guys I currently have a 02' 300ex that I bought last year. Im down at school now and just found a buddy that wants to get rid of his 05' z400 I am a very experienced rider but just dont have the money for really nice bikes but this guy cant afford his payments and wants 2600 dollars for this 05' thats in great shape has a pipe. Is it worth it to sell my 300 and move up or will I not notice that much of a difference between the two.

300ex has a FMF pipe and KN filter thats it

WOW!!! My uncle has a 300ex and I have a KFX 400, huge difference. I would make that deal in a heart beat. There is a huge difference not only in engine, but shocks, comfort, size etc. $2,600 is a smoking deal. The only thing I would make sure of is that it only has a pipe on it. I'm weary about modded crap that never runs right.

The 300EX (along with its brother the 400EX) is probably the best tight trail quads of all time. They have torquey motors that can be lugged down and ridden slow in the rought stuff, plus its smaller size lets it squeze between the trees a little easier. If you mostly ride very tight trails, a Z would be a step backward.

If you ride a variety of conditions and especially more open country, then the Z would be a good choice.

I really dont know how you could be riding enough tight trials to make the Z any sort of a step backward from a 300ex. And Zs make excellent trail quads to, and are better in every way you could think of from a 300ex.

this is a no comparison question. the Z will out do the 300ex in every aspect besides maybe reliability.

I normally agree with your tastes, but what have you been smoking?!!! Yes a 300ex could keep up with a Z400 in tight woods with equal riders, but it sure as hell wouldn't be a step backwards. A Z400 can be made to use for any type of riding you can think of!

Not to mention $2600 for a '05 is a steal.

im not sure what the currency difference is beween canada and the states but around here an 02 300ex is still worth a good penny and it sounds like you could almost buy the z for what you could sell the ex for

Kinda what I was thinking. You'd come out ahead on the deal, that's for sure. If it was in good shape, it'd be an easy unload at 2k. 600 for a z isn't a bad deal at all.
