420 rancher winch mount
#3
well, I got the winch mounted up. I got an xtreme 2500 with the sealed motor and sealed bearings, you have to look at the specs though because they are not all sealed motors. It mounted up fine although I`m a little concerned about the way the winch motor sticks out. The winch spool ends up behind the bottom opening in the grill, so the motor extends out to the side from that position. The contactor fits back by the battery. All in all not too difficult a job and seems like it will work out as long as I don`t ram any trees.

I got basically the same winch, but in the venom 2500. Same manufacturer, same distributor. Mounted mine up last weekend and it works great. Nice clean installation. A bit more work than most mounts. Have to remove the bumper guard and bumper, cut 2 small sections out of the bumper guard, install the winch on the bumper, not the frame, then put the bumper back on. That thing is packed in there, but it's in there. Happy trails!

Go to ebay and buy the venom or extreme winch mount plate. The plate will accomodate 4 or 2 hole mount winches. The plate is not very expensive and gives you all the instructions you need to mount it. You can also check out the winch dimensions for the venom or the extreme and compare them to your warn dimensions. My guess is with the new plate you could get your 2.0 warn in there. Let us know.

Just put a rancher 420 winch kit in tonight. I only had to shave one section of the bumper guard a little. It was a Venom 3000 lb. winch. Fits nicely, 2 people installing was nice, 1 person would have their hands full when putting it back on. The motor does stick out to the side a little but the tire clears it with no problems and it is not that far out. I highly reccommend the Venom kits, everything you need is in there and the instructions for the mounting plate were detailed and pictured. Dont bother calling and asking the Honda shop what wire to tap into, or at least the ones around here. Find the ignition harness coming from behind the ignition, turn the handle bars to the right as far as they can turn, the wires are right there in the black sheathing, slice carefully the black sheathing and get it to where you can get to the PINK wire. Use a splicing clip so you dont have to cut the wire and there you have it. Hope this has helped someone.
