Just put a rancher 420 winch kit in tonight. I only had to shave one section of the bumper guard a little. It was a Venom 3000 lb. winch. Fits nicely, 2 people installing was nice, 1 person would have their hands full when putting it back on. The motor does stick out to the side a little but the tire clears it with no problems and it is not that far out. I highly reccommend the Venom kits, everything you need is in there and the instructions for the mounting plate were detailed and pictured. Dont bother calling and asking the Honda shop what wire to tap into, or at least the ones around here. Find the ignition harness coming from behind the ignition, turn the handle bars to the right as far as they can turn, the wires are right there in the black sheathing, slice carefully the black sheathing and get it to where you can get to the PINK wire. Use a splicing clip so you dont have to cut the wire and there you have it. Hope this has helped someone.

My boyfriend has a Xtreme "badass series" 3000lb winch, he was told NOT to splice into ignition wires, and wire it directly to the battery, only because he get reallllly stuck and something happens to your quad, you want your winch to be functional when your quad is off. The wire won't reach all the way back, but it's easy to extend it.

Installed a Superwinch model ATV3000 yesterday with the KFI mounting plate, and I've posted some photos to show how it went at http://codysguide.com/atv2007/winchinstall/.
It took all day, 8 hours just going slow and looking things over real good. One thing I didn't include here is the control switch mounted on the handlebar, which was a minor part of the process, but if anyone is interested I'll take a photo and add it to the page.
