I just picked up my new 450s. Lift kit, winch, bearclaws, snow plow, and hand and thumb warmers. What a beast. I was going to go for a rubi but decided to wait and see how it does. I want to see how the rebs do down in the swamps then mabey next year. I've owned a 400 foreman and rancher and loved them both but this 450 is something else.

The 450S is more "like a rock than the Chevy trucks"

It is the new and improved legendary 300

It is not the fastest or the flashiest but they will still be running 20 years from now.

Perhaps next year Honda will put the new front differential in them.

Current price in Minnesota is 5295 plus tax. A great bargain!

For your applications did the Rancher lack torque?

I'm curious, most people switch to the Rancher rather than from it.

I hope they leave the 450 front diff as is. Can't put a locker in a Sure-Trac because of the worm gear design. The Sure-Trac may be good, but it's not a locker. Now a selectable differential lock like the King Quad would be the ultimate.

Yes it did. If you worked it you were in first gear. But its a great machine. The 450 plays where the Rancher used to work. The lift kit made up for the clearance.

Well for you that dosen't want the new AP front differ. on the Honda 450's. you don't haft to worry about it because a long time ago I called "HONDA" and asked if you are putting the new AP diff. in the 450's and tha guy said no, the Honda 450 is specifically made for the limited diff. and we can not make the the AP diff
on the 450 without totallly remodeling the quad.

This is exactly what this man said. I can't remember the number or the guys name so if you want the number to HONDA you would haft to get it off TxDoc2. SEE YA LATER

How tough a job is it putting a locker kit in? The conditions up here in Maine don't really call for a locker kit except for in the spring. I would like to put the locker kit in in the spring and take it out the rest of the year. Would this be more trouble then its worth? Of course I wouldn't tell my buddys what I've done. That would be the fun part.

It's a 2 1/2 - 3 hour job to change over, but you can take the lockers out and put the clutch packs back in any time. You will find however, that if you do a front end alignment, the locker is not that bad, but you will find that it will go places you haven't gone before. It climbs better, pulls better, muds better and pushes snow better. Once you lock up you will never be happy with the limited-slip diff even in the summer.
I did a review on the Dirtyhowies Diff Lock.... It's on the Acc Review page on my website.
