Default Cam timing question on 2002 400EX

Two more little tips. I usually put a wire hanger or a screwdriver in the spark plug hole to make sure I'm at TDC. The cam lobes should all be facing down. And if you removed the cam from the cam gear, I would replace the two bolts with new ones and use locktite. If you don't do this, the whole quad might explode. Default Cam timing question on 2002 400EX

Thanks for all the help. Got everything back together yesterday and finally got it started. I thought i had set the timing on it wrong, when at first we put it back together and it wouldn't star. So when we took it back apart something told me to check the crank where the timing gear is on the sprocket on the lower end of the motor. Sure enough the chain was off the sprocket down there, after about 45 mins finally got everyhting reassembled and it started right up. Again thanks for all the help....
