Bomb,
You're quad looks familiar, too. But what are those things on the fenders? Lawyer stickers? And where is your mirror? Can't ride on the street without it.
Thanks for not coming down on me for what I said to 2short. I certainly wasn't trying to belittle him. I was only trying to make a point that many of us, including myself, miss things that are rigt in front of us.
Best of luck, and let us know how it works out!

The 250r's can be just as reliable as the 450's depending on how you ride and maintain it. BUT it is more sensitive to changes in elevation and weather which means that YOU need to be familiar with JETTING a carbeurator. So unless you are NOT mechanically inclined this is NOT the bike for you. When people say 2 strokes are high maintenance, it simply means you end up working on them more than a "gas and go" 4 stroke quad.
I suggest doing more research on the several reasons why people are dumping their 2 smokers for 4 pokers which is consequently why the r's are cheap. I am NOT putting down the legendary R by any means for I currently own 3 but they do require a lot more attention.
I can go on and on about the pros and cons but I will leave that up to you to research for I have gone thru quite a few bikes and a small fortune in my lifetime in my search for the quad that "FITS" me. So good luck .

I'm sorry, I don't mean to sound rude. But, if you've been racing since you were 13, why are you asking strangers for their opinions as to what you should get? Didn't you speak to anyone else at the tracks?
Unless you are still 13, you may have missed the best resources for this question.

i find i do more maintenance to my 450R than my 250R. i will be redoing somethings on my 250 soon but thats mostlly some cosmetic, some suspension (i bought new shocks) and what i want to do. it is a solid machine; well they both are- but in this day of high revving 4 strokes there is no such thing as a no maintenance "gas and go" bike unless its a 400ex or something. but anyone who cares about their stuff will do the REQUIRED maintenance on WHATEVER they have. i hope.
the only prob with the 250r is that if you want OEM parts you better start scooping them up because they are getting a little hard to find. the aftermarket can virtually rebuid this machine and will have parts for awhile, but like any businsess, they will make stuff for the masses and the masses do not own 2 strokers anymore as there has been a paradyn shift to 4strokes in the market.
i would not reccomend either for strictly trails unless they are open trails. anything too technical, though possible, will only defeat the purpose of the R machines even though they handle good (the 250 edging the 450 IMO). why not stick with your 400EX? your profile says its modded to a 426 so what are you riding with to be getting left behind so bad in the trails?
