Default Which Tether Switch for 400ex- Open or Closed?

I need to buy a tether kill switch for a 400ex. They sell two types, normally open and normally closed. Which one is correct for the 400ex (electric start 4 stroke, key switch still in tact). Thanks

It appears I'm not the only one who doesn't know the answer to this...

You could use either. If it closes the circuit when you fall off, hook it to the coil and ground.

If you buy the type that opens, when you fall of hook it to one side of the key.

The first type is usually cheaper. Put one wire of the kill switch on the mounting bolt for the coil. Hook the other kill wire to the small wire going in to the coil. When you fall off it grounds the coil and kills the spark. That is the same function as when you slide the red kill switch.

Cool man, thanks. It sounds like the first type is easier to install too. I'll get that one and install it when I have my tank off to do the valves. Thanks again -Randy
