stock tires and rims for Rubicon
#1
Does anybody have any stock tires and rims for an 05 Rubicon? The ones I am using now are getting pretty wore down. I would just buy new tires but that would probably cost more. I seen some people sell tires and rims together for a 100 bucks. If I went to a dealership, it would probably cost 50 bucks a tire. Then you have to break down all the tires which is a pain without the right tools. Is there any other place to buy stock tires than a dealership?

Ebay Motors, www.ebay.com has 2 listings. Search ATV Parts-Honda Rubicon

Your bolt pattern is a very common size......4 holes on 110mm. Most brands interchange if you happen to come across a nice set of wheels and tires. They don't have to come from Honda. You might want to check with Reconranger though because any other brand may not meet Honda specs.

I have been looking at the Maxxis Bighorns. I don't know if I want to get them or stock tires. How would the Bighorns ride compared to the stock tires as far as smoothness? To me it looks like they have a similar tread pattern.
I do have a set of Mudlites XL on ITP rims but they are to rough to just drive around on the farm. I just use them whenever I go on a ride or it gets really muddy. Plus I don't like the way the rims change the width of the bike. In the front they stick out past the fenders and the back are about an inch narrower. I don't know why they are made like that. The stock rims are the same all around.

The offset is going to determin how far they stick out. I don't like the tires way out there either. Some rims (especially for quads) have a deep offset. Offset is the distance from the center of rim to mating surface of hub.

Hefty is correct. I put a set of Mud Lites on mine at purchase and sold my brand new stock tires on Ebay. I sold them for roughly $215 not including shipping. I would expect $200 to be the going price these days. I ended up buying a used set of tires from an old rancher so I could ride around the house and not use up my mud tires.
