advice on 400ex 416cc

i have the chance to trade my jeep for a 400ex. it has been bored to a 416cc. i am not sure on the brand yet, but the guy has a receipt from shop that performed work. is this a good mod or not? any experience with this kit? are these reliable when bored? any advice would help. thanks in advance. also, i tried to search for any past articles, but everytime i hit search, my computer would lock up. sorry if this is a repeat!

The 400 stock is a rock solid machine. So, that's a good start.
Did the person selling it say why they had it bored?
Most things like that are ok when done by a quality shop. As far as reliability goes, anytime you increase the engine size, it will decrease the realiabity. Now, that's not to say it won't last a long time, just a fact on any type motor.
If you can, see if you can call the shop and talk to them. Maybe they remember something about the bike, or can offer you some advice on it as well.
I could be wrong on this, and it wouldn't be the first time, but usually they do a 426 on these.
But if you look around the Honda section, you'll see many people who have had the engine work done and are quite happy with it.
I'm sure others will be able to give you some more insight on it.
