A few things to try. Check if your battery terminals are tight. I have seen where some dealers must be tightening them with a screw driver and not a wrench. They may be a little loose. There could be an air leak at the exhaust pipe fittings. Make sure you wait until the FI light on the instrument panel goes out before starting your unit. The fuel injection system may not have total fuel pressure if you do not let it pressure up before starting.
Before each unit we sell is delivered to the customer, I run a health check and then reset the ECM with the Honda HDS. After ECM reset I let it idle at operating temp for around 10 minutes so it can learn the ohm readings of each sensor and store it as a baseline. You could let yours idle for this short period of time as mentioned above and see if it helps. I would be surprised if cosmoline somehow made its way into the IAC sensor. You would know it though as the idle would be high.
If all else fails and the problem persists, you may have to take the unit to your local dealer and have them scan it with the HDS for serious problems or just to have the ECM reset.

Sorry, no you can not without the Honda HDS. Back in the battery area there is a red connector that is capped off and taped to the wire harness. This is the diagnostic plug where the HDS is plugged in to. It's function is simular to the OBD diagnostic connector that cars have. Honestly I have not tried a battery disconnect and or its ability to reset the ECM to factory defaults. So I will not advise trying this. If anyone can shed some light on that topic, let me know. Pull out your spark plug and see if it is black. Replace it if it is
thanks
