Default Help & Advice - blown engine

Hey, new to the forum & I need some advice.

I have a 2003 TRX350TM Rancher with a blown engine. I've pulled the head & cylinder & here is what I found:

The piston is stuck in the cylinder & is broke at the pin.
The rod & pin messed up the sleeve. Cylinder is OK
The head is OK.
Not sure about the rod.

I will be replacing the piston, pin, sleeve, & rod? (maybe).

Here are my questions:

Is there a way to check the rod while in the engine? It looks ok, the pin is still in the rod & the pin is what messed up the cylinder.
Can you just replace the sleeve or the entire cylinder?

It looks like I have a fun summer project.........

Thanks for the the help.

you can buy a new sleeve for around a 100-150, they press in and out.(machine shop will do it.) if the rod has no play in it should be fine. get you a new high compression piston around a 100, and you should be good.

Pretty much should split the cases, and have that rod checked. If the rod needs replacement, Honda services the entire crankshaft assembly. Rod not sold seperate from them. The bottom meeds to be cleaned up anyway and the oil pump checked. If you do split the cases, watch out, one gear on the transmission likes to fall off during case splitting. If you install it backwards you will not have neutral. The gear looks the same for offset, but has to go on one way.

Ya I would split it all the way done, I would say that the small end rod bearing is bad if the pin is still in it. Plus how are you giong to know if you found all the metal that fell into the bottom end.
