Default Question on a K&N product Power Lid

Now I heard from a lot of people that said not to get a K&N air filter for my Honda 400ex because they let to much of the small particals through. Then I heard from other people that said as long as you get the outerwear for the filter you should be fine. I just wanted to get your guys opinion on a product from K&N I was thinking of getting. I was going to get one of those air box lids with the filter on them to let more air in without taking the lid off completly and I was wondering if the K&N Power lid is any good or if that in fact like the filter would let to much of the small particals through as I mainly do hard dusty trail riding. Thanks guys
