jet kit-a must have?
#1
i have a 300ex with a supertrapp exhaust and k&n air filter with a modded air box. im told that a jet kit is a must have for my mods. my dad believes that we dont really need it (it wont give it much power and will just give us problems). do i really need a jet kit? and will it give me noticable power?

Yes you will get the full potential of the mods if you re jet it. I also HIGHLY recommend that you re jet it cause right now it is letting alot more air in but not as much fuel which is causeing it to run lean. If you continue to run without a rejet you can and mostly likely will severely damage your motor.

You"ll burn her up without rejetting. You dont need to spend $50 on a jet kit. Just go to the parts counter and get you Genuine Kelihn jets. You can get both a main and pilot for less than $15. Tell your dad if he doesent add bigger jets with that air box mod it's only a matter of time till crying time! I'd just tell the parts guy you want to bump up a few sizes on the main and one or two on the pilot. It's better to run a little rich than lean.

They are all correct on this one dude rejet! The whole idea or the K&N / exhaust is to allow for more fuel to be burned there by giving you more power... More air in burns more fuel then exahst takes it out. Ohh and if you don't you will burn her up

A 300ex needs a 128 or a 130 main, when modded as yours is. The stock pilot is 38, you need a 40. Raise the needle one clip and back the air screw out a little and you will be good. It should only cost $10 instead of buying the 8 jets that come in a $65 kit.
