Default Help with jetting on 05 400 EX

Definitely a novice question here, but how do I access the jets on my carb to rejet?? It seems like the top cover plate is hidden partially. I have a new filter and new exhaust and have some idling problems and think that I need to rejet. Is there a steb by step instruction on my quad including how to get to the actual carb?

Thanks alot for your help!

Don't ride it like it is! They come jetted lean from the factory, to meet emissions standards. Your mods will have made it even worse! When you are lean, it will run hot and you can do serious engine damage!

Most mains come out easily from the bottom of the carb. Messing with the needle and other jets gets more complicated.....

For a step by step guide you need to get a repair manual such as Haynes. To rejet your carb i would suggest removing the carb from your bike for your first time. Take off the bottom plate and you will see 2 jets inside. The Main jet is the big one in the center.

Anytime you add a after market exhaust re-jetting is a must but, if your having idling problems you have something else going on. The main jet does not have anything to do with idling.
