Emergency Shift in Rubicon500 Trx 2001
Hi,
Does anyone know how to perform an emergency shift in the Honda Rubicon 2001 model.
We are having problems with "_ _" flashing.
We found that the control motor was busted so we replaced it (not knowing that we had to perform the initial setting procedure at the time) we seem to be getting code 6, 10, 11. We erase the codes but I don't think we're performing the initial setting procedure correctly. It was hard to figure out the code/erase prcedure (knowing exactly what to do and when to do it)
We have seen past posts about the initial setting procedure but has anyone performed this correctly yet?
For the Initial Setting Procedure (after retreivel/erase of codes) you are to:
1: have the gear shift lever in neutral (green light comes on) and turn ignition off
2: hold both up and down buttons while turning ignition on and then release button immediately.
3: then push up, down, up (do you repeat this procedure because when we repeat up, down, up, down, up etc. we get a solid "_ _" , but when we do just up, down, up "- - " still blinks)?
4: when you have solid "- -" you are to fully close throttle, fully open then fully close (how do you exactly perform this procedure ?
5: At this point you should hear the control motor move , but we don't it just continues to blink.
Can anyone help.
I have no complaints about this four-wheeler except not many people know how to fix them right the first time (comptuer/electronics fun fun) we had absolutely no problems with the four-wheeler until the magnet inside the control motor busted which we replaced. we finially figured out how to retrieve the codes and erase them but having trouble perfoming the initial setting procedure.
However it does say in the manual to have the sub-transmission in neutral (how do you know this for sure)?
Please help.
(P.S. We didn't have any problems until 3 years after purchase and about 5000km)
