Any Canadian Rubicons driving around?

Well if your anything like me with the new machines, you'll be riding it tonight.
The last one I brought I left directly from work with the riding gear already packed and went to get the quad. Had to wait from them to finish building it will I watched closely so the didn't take any 'coffee breaks'. I left the dealership with my new machine at about quarter to 6. I drove an hour and a half to the trail system and tooled around on the brand new machine for about 2 hours! It was very worth it though. Considering the next day was Saturday I probably should have waited, but I couldn't, I just had to go!

I just picked mine up in Edmonton around 5 pm on Friday 01/12/2001. I'm going in to register it this morning and then I'll take it for a ride this afternoon. I sold my Honda 400 last June, so it's been a long wait for the Ruby. I had to pay $10300.00 cdn & that's with the GST included ( we don't have a provincial tax in Alberta ) & they gave me a pair of Cobra FRS radios....or you could say I paid $10300 for the Cobras and they threw in the Ruby for free......

$9300 for a Sportsman? I hope that is with tax included or your Polaris dealer is almost as sly as your Honda dealer is.He may sell some early Rubicons for that much but he will not sell hundreds of them at that price when they are lying all around and are old news, especially when the 650 Kawasakis come and are selling for less.

Tim1, As far as I know, the prices I were quoted didn't include taxes. The Polaris and Honda dealer is the same place here. Polaris was on it's own, but the Yamaha/Honda dealership folded last summer, and now Yamaha has a new dealer, and I think it's the old Polaris dealer that has a new building and now also sells Honda. Whatever---the prices are very high. A 660 Raptor is over $9,000 also. I think you are right---they won't get these prices when the new models have been around for a while and there is a good supply, also when some of the nearby towns offer better deals they will have to compete. The old Yamaha/Honda dealer went under here because he had a beautiful building right downtown and a huge supply of everything, but his prices were out to lunch and many people bought from other towns. It was a great place to go looking though!

Would appreciate receiving some feedback on how you like the machine .Noticed you bought the unit in Moncton ; did you shop at Product Finders in Amherst as they usually have good prices . Am waiting to hear from the local vendor as to when they will be reciving their units and their price . Thanks.

! Received it yesterday. It took a couple days to get the accessories installed, being the first one they tried to accessorize. Anyhow, I took it for a short drive yesterday and about 50 km today. It works well; however, I was a little surprised how my father's Kodiak kept up to it. The Rubi has quicker acceleration, but when they both reach top speed their wasn't a great difference. I expected it to pull away with ease. I never really ran it to hard being brand new though. I never checked the product finder. I live really close to the Moncton dealer (trail distance), …it just made since for me to buy it there for convenience sake. The big surprise was the gas consumption. Not that gas is a big deal, but I nearly drained the tank on 50 Km. It was hard going in the snow; but the Kodiak hardly burned any gas in comparison. I suspect it with improve after a couple tanks, but at this rate I’ll have to carry an extra 2 or 3 cans of gas on a trip. Over all I’m happy with it. My impression is it has good low,and mid range power. The high end seemed a little weak though. It’s hard to notice with the auto though as it usually keeps the motor at the proper rev. I prefer the ESP mode for trails with a lot of sudden hills. The computer just can’t foresee the extra RPM’s required for the short steep hills. The auto will compensate a little to late in the snow as you need to keep the speed up for snowy hills. The engine braking works excellent in ESP mode and fairly well in auto. Looking forward to spring when I can try it out with less snow.

Thanks for your feedback . Apparently , this unit is reported to be a gas hog . Our local dealer has received a few units which were previously sold . The price quoted here is $9,750 , plus tax. They anticipate receiving additional units shortly. What accesories have you installed on your unit.

The first few tanks were hard but are definitly getting better,I got 18mpg last tank driving agressive in alot of snow.which is comparible in those conditions.Top speed mine felt the same way but now I am hitting over 90kph with the tires only around 3 pounds of air in them.Working in the snow are climbing it is much better in low,If your dad's kodiak kept up with it you better check your throttle free play or just drive it harder once it broken in which i suspect it is by now.
